  • Are you able to take clients outside of BC?
Yes, thanks to operating remotely I am able to see clients that are in other unregulated provinces such as Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, North West Territories and Nunavut. The provinces that are regulated and I cannot see clients from are Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Additionally, I cannot provide services to individuals outside of Canada.
  • What is your cancellation/rescheduling policy?
I ask that you please cancel or reschedule your session at least 24 hours before the session time. If a session is cancelled within 24 hours of the session without proper reasoning such as an emergency. You will be charged a late cancellation fee which is 25% of the original session fee. If a No-Show were to happen without communication, you would be charged the full amount for that session.
  • Is my information confidential and protected?
Yes, as a client you have the right to confidentiality, which means almost everything discussed in sessions is kept completely confidential. Limitations to confidentiality will be discussed in the first session. Online Counselling sessions are held through Colib, which uses encryption technology to protect your data and information.
  • What does it cost and how do I pay?
I currently charge $80 per session. I offer a student discount which is $60 per session. To apply for the student discount, please contact me by email with proof of active student status. I also offer a select number of sliding scale pricing slots within the week, which bases the session fee on your income. Fees are paid through the booking software after the session has concluded. Another option is Interac e-transfer which would be sent to MindcraftMH@gmail.com.
  • What are your qualifications?
My professional designation is Registered Professional Counsellor-Candidate (RPC-C) with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA), Member #4402. The candidacy tag means I am in the process of completing clinical supervision hours with my clinical supervisor. I have a specialized diploma from the Kelowna College of Professional Counselling in Applied Psychology and Counselling. I sympathize and understand that it may be confusing when you are looking for help from a mental health professional and encounter a variety of different titles such as Clinical Counsellor, Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Social Worker etc. It's important to understand your current situation and needs when deciding which kind of mental health professional you want to work with. If you are unsure about your needs, that is something we can discuss in a free 15-minute consultation. Scope of practice: As an RPC-C, my scope of practice can be subject to limitations, meaning the kind of mental health issues I can treat in counselling. Throughout the counselling process, if we were to encounter an issue that falls outside of my training, knowledge or specializations, a conversation will be had regarding whether we are a good fit for each other or if a referral to another professional is best.
  • How do I prepare for my first session?
To prepare for your first counselling session, think about your main reasoning for starting counselling, think about your goals, write down any questions you have, and be open and honest with your counsellor. Be prepared to discuss your personal and family history and bring any relevant information, such as medical reports or medication lists. To prepare your physical space, make sure you have a quiet and comfortable space where you won't be disturbed and have a working computer/laptop/device that has a stable internet connection.
  • How do I know if you'll be the right counsellor for me?
Choosing a counsellor can be a difficult part of starting your journey when working with a mental health professional. That's why I do my best to display my personal counselling approach and style as well as my personality through this website and my social media content. I like to give my clients the opportunity to know me well before even booking a session with me so you can make an educated decision about whether to choose me as your counsellor. When choosing a counsellor, it's important to identify your needs, goals, and what type of therapy you are interested in. Information about my approach and style can be found here. If you would like to speak with me about whether or not we would be a good fit for each other, book a consultation here.
  • Do you offer direct billing?
Unfortunately, I am unable to offer direct billing at this time, however, I will have a receipt of your payment emailed to you so you can submit a claim to your insurance company of choice.
  • How do I book a session?
